Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 50 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership, we believe our ownership structure fosters a long-term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Fixed Income Credit Analyst to join our Municipal credit research team. We have a talented municipal bond team, which at the end of 2016 had approximately US$26 billion in dedicated municipal assets under our management. Located in Boston, this individual will be primarily responsible for covering tax-backed sectors in the municipal market and for providing fundamental research on the bond issuers within them. As an active member of the Municipal team, he/she will be fully integrated into the investment process and will be expected to provide investment recommendations that add value to client portfolios, as well as to help shape portfolio management decisions. In addition, municipal analysts regularly interact and collaborate with other investment professionals at the firm including other analysts in Fixed Income Credit Research, portfolio managers, traders, macro analysts, and equity analysts. Coverage will include state and local general obligation bonds, as well as other municipal sectors, to be determined depending on the ideal candidate's background, skill set, and expertise.
The successful candidate will be an experienced general obligation analyst with deep fundamental research skills and a formal credit training background (from a bank, rating agency, bond insurer or other investment firm.) In addition, the Analyst will be intellectually curious, analytically and quantitatively rigorous, and will thrive in a highly collaborative environment that fosters rich investment dialogue, debates, and insights from diverse perspectives.
Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess:
- High level of initiative and experience developing and implementing value-added investment recommendations
- Interest in relating the credit risk of covered credits to those of other sectors, and placing them into a relative value framework
- Minimum of seven to ten years of previous municipal credit experience, preferably with expertise in state and local general obligations
- Strong influencing, written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort dealing with uncertainty and taking risks
