The main function of the Investment Management Division is to invest the Assets of the Fund. The incumbent reports directly to the Senior Investment Officer, Fixed Income.
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Investment Officer, Fixed Income, who is responsible for the investment of the UNJSPF, the incumbent performs the following tasks: Under the supervision of the Senior Investment Officer (SIO) of Fixed Income, the incumbent implements investment strategy and monitors the portfolios for Fixed Income. a. Manages and invests the assets of the Fund in Fixed Income. b. Implements approved investment strategies for the strategic and tactical asset allocation and portfolio rebalancing with careful review of the market environments. Contributes in implementing asset class and regional allocation strategies decided upon by the RSG. c. Monitors portfolio to achieve the performance to meet the Funds investment objectives by reviewing both portfolio and FI benchmark performance on a regular basis. d. Ensures that all of the Fixed Income investments are in compliance with IMD's investment and policy guidelines and that IMD maintains a high level of professional investments expertise and knowledge. e. Prepares management reports on FI markets and other investment matters for submission to appropriate UN bodies. f. Balances long-term strategies to achieve results superior to benchmarks by assisting the SIO in constructing and monitoring the portfolio through dedicated research. g. Assists with due diligence with new investments.
2. Conducts careful and thorough investment research that is relevant to managing the Asia Pac portfolios. a. Performs fundamental analysis through published economic and investment reports, market news and other publicly available information. b. Reviews investment research and discuss with strategists, economists, security analysts through brokerage community and research providers. c. Conducts portfolio analysis using risk tools and analytical tools. d. Conducts sector/thematic research and updates fundamentals of companies and industries.
3. Makes specific investment recommendations. a. Ensures the Fund's four investments criteria: i.e. safety, profitability, liquidity, and convertibility. b. Makes specific investment recommendations and executes specific FI trades to achieve optimum investment performance with careful review of the FI portfolio's investment objectives and risk tolerance. c. Presents and discusses investment recommendations to FI Senior Investment Officer.
4. Reporting a. Assists the SIO in reporting accurately and timely to the Representative of the SecretaryGeneral for the Investments of the UNJSPF and Director of IMD when requested. b. Assists the Director of Investment Management Division in reporting on investment and related matters to governing bodies. c. Serves as the Officer In Charge when required in the absence of the SIO.
5. Maintains a high level of professional investment expertise by: a. Participating in seminars and taking courses in investment topics. b. Keeping abreast of rapidly changing techniques of portfolio management and exchanging view with colleagues and members of the investment community.
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in Business and Administration (MBA), Finance, Economics or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in investment management or analysis of multi currency for fixed income portfolio at the large-size institutional investor is required. Experience in Foreign Exchange & Cash Management are required. Experience in pension funds, public funds and central banks is desirable.
