The Role: Under the direction of the Senior Operational Specialist, the Senior Performance Analyst will be responsible for ensuring accurate portfolio returns are being generated for assigned portfolios on a monthly basis and linked over time. The individual in this role will be expected to independently research, explain, and resolve differences between MBSC calculated returns and those calculated by banks, consultants, and clients. The Senior Performance Analyst will also will work on testing new software designed to improve the performance process as needed. He or she will be responsible for generating reports and validation of historical performance data for various Separately Managed Accounts (SMA) composites and accounts in accordance with department policies & procedures and the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS).
This position requires an individual who is both self-motivated and detail oriented; a strong communicator who is comfortable interfacing across multiple departments and with individuals at various levels of the organization. The Senior Performance Analyst will have regular contact with Portfolio Managers/Client Relationship Mangers, consultants, and clients and will be expected to follow-up on all performance inquiries in a prompt and thorough manner.
Periodic account and composite performance reports Reviews cash activity and reconciliations
Assistance in annual GIPs audit verification, and fulfillment of ad-hoc requests Manage and respond to inquiries in a timely manner
Maintain internal files and records associated with the performance of duties in accordance with department standards
Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
At least 2+ year of professional experience working in financial services industry
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Bloomberg
Understanding of Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS)
Understanding of investment accounting and experience working with global equity securities
3+ year of professional experience working with Separately Managed Accounts (SMA)
3+ year of professional experience working in a buy-side asset management firm
